Today I woke up so grateful to God for His mercy and grace. I am thankful that even when we don't know what to specifically pray for, the Holy Spirit prays for us. When I got up yesterday morning, I did not know to pray that if a fertilizer plant were to blow up that my daughter and grandchildren would be safe but God knew the need was there. My daily prayer is for the safely of my family and yesterday God delivered that. My granddaughter has dance lessons just a few buildings below the site of the explosion. She missed dance class for church. I prayed all night because my daughter doesn't have a home phone, only a cell and it doesn't get signal in her house. Joy came in the morning with her call to let me know everyone was safe and sound. The explosion was a terrible thing but it could have been so much worse. Had it happened in the day time when the workers were there, when the children were in school next door, the casualty rate would be so much higher.
This has been a hard week for America first with the Boston Marathon bombing and now this explosion in West Texas. But in both cases it could have been so much worse than it was. I know that doesn't comfort those who did lose loved ones or who's lives have been forever changed. Sadly this world is full of evil and bad things happen daily. John 16:33 tells us “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”The only thing we can do is trust in the Word of God and live for the next world where He is in control and we live eternally in peace.
Things happen in a split second sometimes and we don't have time to make things right with family, friends or God so thats why it pays to always been ready. Always be watching for the Lord's return, always leave things with family and friends so that you can live with it for all eternity if need be. Tell your babies you love them often, kiss your spouse good bye every morning and ask forgiveness throughout the day.

Thankful Thursday 1-31-13

As usual, I have much to be thankful for. I can't believe its the end of January already. Time seems to go so much faster now that I am older.
1. I am thankful for my friend Debbie. - Debbie is the kind of friend the Bible means when it says there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. She has done more for me than anyone in my family. I have had to stay with her in the past, she is the person who helps me when no one else will. An example would be that this trailer desperately needs remodeled and insulation added. Even with the 3 space heaters that were driving my electricity up it wasn't warm. Debbie worried and worried about it being so cold. Finally she remembered her aunt had an old kerosene heater. She brought the heater, took me to get a wick and kerosene.
2. The kerosene heater- see above answer. It is so much warmer in here now. Before next winter I have to get this place worked on.
3. Church- I got to go to church this past Sunday. I so miss it now that I don't have a car to go. But someone came to get me this past week and I got to go and talk to everyone and hear God's word preached.

Thankful Thursday 1-24-13

Somehow I got offtrack last week and missed posting. I realized it Saturday but thought it would be stupid to post Thankful Thursday post on Saturday :). I am not sure why but for some reason this year, I have been a day behind every day. Before I forget, I am asking a favor of everyone this week. I entered my little dog in a contest on Facebook and would really appreciate it if you have a Facebook account and would vote for her. Well here is what I am thankful for this week.
1. I am thankful that my best friend's little dog got found. BB is a house dog but he goes out to play. He went out last Friday morning and there was a bigger dog in the yard. BB started running the big dog off and ended up following him out the yard. My friend lives beside a major road and we just knew BB had been hit. She looked and looked and we prayed and prayed. Finally after about 5 hours he was faintly heard and she went that way and found him. He wore himself out because he came home and slept all day :) I know how she feels about her little BB because thats how I feel about Maxine. Neither my friend nor myself have jobs currently so mostly we are just home alone. The little dogs lay with us almost constantly and are such company.
2. I am thankful that I now have an e-reader. I went to visit a friend on Saturday and somehow we got to talking about e-readers and she said well you can have the one I bought last month. She had never been able to figure out how it worked. It was brand new because I am the one who took her to buy it. It took a couple hours but my daughter figured it out and I have been on a downloading frenzy ever since.
3. I am thankful that Amazon has so many e-books for free :). I now have almost 500 e-books. Some of them are books that I actually already own but just love to read again but most of them are brand new to me books. I recommend you sort by low to high price. Some of the books show in the free search but actually aren't free.

Thankful Thursday- 1-10-13

You know how I love meme's and I just found a new one and wanted to join right in.
1. The first thing I am so thankful for is God's grace and mercy. I found a scripture and when I read it, it just spoke to my heart. God has shown us in His word, His promises and His Son what is good and all that He requires is that we live right and walk with Him. How easy should it be to walk with Someone who loves you so much that He would send His own Son to die just so you could be with Him. I just really want to praise His name today. He is such a wonderful God. The angels continuously spend their day adoring and worshipping Him yet we let everything crowd Him out of our minds.
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” -Micah 6:8
2. I am thankful for good friends. One of my good friends that I met at my previous job treated me to lunch on Saturday. We had such a good time laughing and chatting. Plus our waitress was so attentive and fun too. Thankfully I have always managed to find some good friends on all my jobs.
3. I am thankful for Suddenlink workers. The cable went out suddenly a few nights ago and in just a couple hours they had it back up and running. I am sure coming out on a Saturday night at midnight wasn't that much fun for them. I love all the good ideas I find on the Internet and hate being without access to the web.
