Huckleberry Harvest Ebook Review

About The Book
Anna and Felty Helmuth's zest for matchmaking is unstoppable—and with grown-up grandchild number three on her way to their home in lovely Huckleberry Hill, Wisconsin, what better reason to put their talents to work once more?...

When Mandy Helmuth hears that her best friend Kristina's heart has been broken, she decides to visit her grandparents and cheer her up. Mandy never liked Noah Mischler anyway, with his rough exterior and outspoken ways. Unfortunately, she can't avoid him—especially after he saves her life…

If he weren't helping Felty with home repairs, Noah would be more than happy to stay away from uppity Mandy Helmuth. Of course, then he wouldn't have been able to rescue her—and she wouldn't have had the chance to discover the real Noah beneath the tough persona—the one she falls in love with…

My Thoughts
This was my first intro into the world of Anna and Felty Helmuth. I like reading Amish type books. I doubt I could live that simply but its nice to read about. At the very beginning it was a bit confusing because it seemed to jump from one scene to another without an intro but I figured it out and then was able to follow right along. There are a couple of heavy topics in the story line such as alcoholism but mostly its just a fun romance to make you laugh especially when you think about having to eat poor Anna's cooking :).  I have to admit that Mandy's friend Kristina made me want to slap her across the face and for sure I would have dumped her as a friend but I guess it takes all kinds.

Love Stinks Book Review

About the Book
Robin Wagner has had it with that silly little thing called "love." Who needs it? Not her! She already made that mistake once and had a lousy ex-husband and thousands of dollars of debt to show for it. Robin's friends and family think she needs to try again, so Robin decides to give internet dating a try. Before she can weed through the losers and find someone new, an old friend from her past shows up on her doorstep...literally. Luke Everman was the life of every party back in school, but the scarred Army veteran that shows up to fix her wiring is a different man with wounds both emotional and physical. Will Robin be able to take a risk on giving her heart again or will she settle for someone else who isn't a danger to her heart? Robin never can seem to do things the easy way, and love is no different. No matter which way she turns, she can't avoid the simple fact that love stinks!

About the Author
Paulette Oakes is a married mother of three lovely daughters that give her gray hair daily. She's lived in Kentucky her whole life and loves her state and the people in it...most of the time. She is an avid reader and has been writing on and off since she was 12 years old and has wanted to be an author forever. She started by publishing her first ever book, "The Garden of Good and Eden" in September 2013 and she couldn't be more excited! She loves to write paranormal/fantasy fiction mixed with a dose of reality, but she also has some contemporary romance novels, too. More than anything else, She just wants people to enjoy her book and love the characters as much as she does. She loves when readers give her honest feedback in reviews, even if it is just a sentence or two. If the majority of readers enjoy her books, that will be the real measure of her success as a storyteller.

My Thoughts
When I read romance I prefer the comedy variety. What is love if not a big joke played on us? :) Robin is just the sort of person I like. She is smart alecky, cheeky and fun. I loved her revised dating profile. Online dating would be a lot easier if everyone put honest answers like that.  And Luke, what's not to love about a sexy studmuffin who happens to be a veteran? I really enjoyed the book but it was a bit over the top with the crude language which added nothing to the book and the constant sexual references. If the book were tamed down a bit then I would totally love it.

Cassidy Lane Ebook Review

About the Book
From the author who brought us the unforgettable Waverly Bryson and the bestselling Perfect on Paper series.

Bestselling author Cassidy Lane walks into her twentieth high school reunion with several novels under her belt, but no date on her arm, and deep down she still feels like the smart girl no one asked to the prom. Then handsome Brandon Forrester confesses his teenage crush, and soon Cassidy finds herself swept up in a modern-day fairytale romance not unlike the tales she spins for a living. While their relationship blossoms, however, the new book she’s writing isn't going as well, and for the first time in her career she considers crafting an ending that doesn't include a proverbial walk into the sunset. Contemplating the simultaneous reversal of her own romantic fortune and that of her protagonist’s is daunting, but maybe it’s time for both her writing and her personal life to take a new path. Or is it?

Filled with Murnane’s trademark wit and optimism, a charming cast of secondary characters, and loads of heart, Cassidy Lane will have you cheering for its heroine down to the very last delightful word.

About the Author

My Thoughts
This is the second book I have read by Maria Murnane. I loved this book so much. I loved the characters and the plot line. I really enjoy Maria's books because each character has been someone I could identify with in my life. I have had dreams of being a writer and it was interesting to see how Cassidy managed the writing process. I get tired of reading the same old romance story where boy meets girl, boy and girl fight all the time, boy and girl miraculously fall in love and get married and live happily ever after because that isn't how my life has went. I hate to put in a spoiler but I think most of us have had a relationship that just didn't work out no matter how much we wanted it to. I love books that are about characters that I could know and be friends with in my life. Maria is definitely on my top 5 author list.

Wait for the Rain Review

Book Description
Publication Date: February 24, 2015
Daphne White is staring down the barrel of forty—and is distraught at what she sees. Her ex-husband is getting remarried, her teenage daughter hardly needs her anymore, and the career she once dreamed about has somehow slipped from her grasp. She’s almost lost sight of the spirited and optimistic young woman she used to be.

As she heads off to a Caribbean island to mark the new decade with her best friends from college, Daphne’s in anything but the mood to celebrate. But when she meets Clay Hanson, a much younger man, she ignores her inner voice warning her that she’s too old for a fling. In fact, this tropical getaway might be the perfect opportunity to picture her future in a new sun-drenched light.

With the help of her friends, Daphne rediscovers her enthusiasm for life, as well as her love for herself—and realizes that her best years are still ahead.

My Thoughts
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. As someone who is in her middle 40s, I can understand how a person can lose themselves. I look at my life today and I too have allowed other people to change me and not always for the better. I can understand Daphne's need to reconnect with who she was. I think this a book you need to pay attention to so you can see the small changes in Daphne's mindset to see how she gets from point A to point B. Women can easily lose their identity in themselves as individuals and only see who they are as someone's wife, mother, daughter etc.. This is the first book I have read by Maria Murnane but now I know it won't be the last.

My Thoughts

This is book 2 in a series and while you can read them as stand alones, I think it would be better to start with book 1 and go from there. I started with book 2 and it took me about 1/2 of chapter 1 to figure out who was who. But after that, it really was standalone. I can't believe I have never heard of MK McClintock, I loved this book so much. It was one of those that when you were forced to put it down, you were counting time until you can read some more. This book has romance, intrigue, murder, mystery, family dynamics, etc.. and manages to do it all without sex and cussing. The characters are strong and likeable for the most part. Honestly I wanted to stab the father myself because he was so horrible. I can't wait to read the whole series. I have to know what happens to Devin. MK McClintock is a wonderful writer who tells a thrilling tale.

Tidings of Murder and Woe Review

"Tidings of Murder and Woe" is a cozy mystery written by award-winning novelist Cathy Spencer.

Christmas can be murder on families, especially when your mother is Julia Moreland, the CEO of a big oil company. Julia has a secret she’s about to announce to the press, but someone is sending her threatening notes to keep her mouth shut.

Julia’s stepson is dating Magdalena, Anna Nolan’s boss. Anna has already outwitted death twice this year and her nerves can’t stand much more. Besides, all she wants for Christmas is to spend time with the two men in her life. So when her boss turns to her for help, Anna is reluctant. Still, curiosity is her downfall and sticking her nose in where it isn't wanted her forte.

Tidings of Murder and Woe is a page-turner with plenty of plot twists, dashes of humour and romance, and even a little Christmas baking.

My Thoughts:
This is book 3 in the Anna Nolan series and the only one I have read so far. All the books appear to be standalone but I think you would get the full effect reading the whole set. It took me a bit to catch up with who's who because there are a lot of people in the book.. Once I got into it though, I loved the story line and had to keep reading. Its one of those books where you are sure you know who did it and then you change your mind about a dozen times. Basically everyone could have done it, poor Julia was surrounded by some not very nice people.  Now I need to go back and read the first 2 books so I can see how Anna got into solving mysteries. Other than the sheer volume of characters, I enjoyed this book quite a bit.
