And now Valerie must convince him that she, her niece and her K-9 partner would make the perfect family for him, if they can stay alive….

About the authors:
Shirlee McCoy
Shirlee McCoy has always loved making up stories. As a child she daydreamed elaborate tales in which she was the heroine — gutsy, strong and invincible. Though she soon grew out of her superhero fantasies, her love for storytelling never diminished. Shirlee knew early that she wanted to write inspirational fiction and began writing her first novel when she was a teenager. Still, it wasn't until her third son was born that she truly began pursuing her dream of being published. Three years later she sold her first book. Now a busy mother of four, Shirlee is a homeschool mom by day and an inspirational author by night. She and her husband and children live in Maryland and share their home with a dog and a guinea pig.

Margaret Daley
Margaret has been writing for over 35 years. She started writing in the late 1970s because she wanted to see if she could put a whole story down on paper. That book is still in the drawer and will never see the light of day. But she was able to finish a book, which was her goal. She loved teaching and working with students with special needs, and recently retired from teaching to write full-time. When she isn't working, she loves to read, travel, and go to lunch and a movie with a friend. She and her husband, Mike, to whom she has been married for over 40 years live in Tulsa. Besides teaching and writing, she is also a mother of one. Her son, Shaun, is married with four daughters.

Sharon Dunn
Sharon Dunn first fell in love with mystery and suspense about the time she read Nancy Drew mysteries in the fifth grade. Her first book in the Ruby Taylor mysteries Romance Rustlers and Thunderbird Thieves was a finalist for the Romantic Times Inspirational Book of the Year. The second book in that series Sassy Cinderella and the Valiant Vigilante was voted Book of the Year by American Christian Fiction Writers. Her hobbies include reading, working out, hiking, trying to find things around the house and making pets out of the dust bunnies under the furniture. Before she started writing, she used to sew. Now she just collects fabric and patterns and fantasizes about projects. After nearly twenty seven years of marriage, Sharon lost her beloved husband in 2014. She lives with her three nearly grown children, two cats and a nervous border collie named Bart

My Thoughts
I really enjoyed this set. I liked that this were "clean" reads in that there wasn't any foul language or sex scenes. Just the telling of the story, the solving of the mystery with a romance thrown in the mix.  I liked the interaction between the characters and the dogs. Each of the dogs in the books have their own specialities.  My cousin is a deputy and he has a K9 partner so these books were a good insight into understanding more of what he does. Each of the books can be stand alone in that each of the crimes are specific to the book and solved in that book and each romance is completed in that book. But there is a crime web spun throughout all the books so I think you would enjoy it more if you read the set. I really enjoyed books 1 and 2 more than 3. The romance in 3 felt more forced and after dropping a major bomb the male protagonist, never explains more about it. I am sure I have figured out who "The Boss" is so will have to finish this series to see if I am right.

And for the giveaway, we have the latest book by Shirlee McCoy (author of Book1 in the series), “Protection Detail.” It releases March 3rd! This is a physical copy,

t first I was very confused because it started in the middle and then brought you up to how they got to that point. I loved the character of Angie and she has the potential to be an amazing character if the author would write a series of mysteries featuring them. She is such a smart, strong, complex woman and I was rooting for her. I am not big on romance stories so I think that was a factor in why I didn't love this story. Honestly if I loved romance I wouldn't like that part of the story line. I am not big on domineering men, and I would never date a thief. I didn't find the male lead to be a likeable character at all. I enjoyed the author's style of writing and had to read the book in one reading because I couldn't put it down. I really can't stress how much I would love to see a series of mysteries with Angie as the main character in them. She could solve financial mysteries. So while I did not like the romance, that was about the only part I didn't like. I liked all the other characters, I liked the back story lines, and the action to it plus I loved Angie. I would recommend reading this book if only so you can meet Angie.

Somehow I ended up not getting my copy to review so I did purchase this myself on Amazon but that doesn't change my review process. It is still my honest opinion.

My Review

The cozy mysteries are my favorites. Daisy is a fun character with a fun obsession with food. You would think she would weigh 500 lbs as much as she thinks about food. And when she isn't thinking of food she seems to be thinking about her ex. Daisy is a real character that you can relate to. Who hasn't have a bad breakup and tried to hide to keep from running into the ex. This was a fun light read for those moments you just want to read and not ponder the fate of the universe. I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't so dark and suspenseful. Let's be honest, I am a coward and don't enjoy those books at all. I prefer the quirky facets of this set.

Kindle Books I loved

I finally got my Kindle Fire and I have been reading up a storm all those ebooks, I have been downloading for the past couple years. I read at least 2 books a day. I love the freedom to have tons of books with me when I go anywhere. Whoever thought of ereaders was a genius. I thought I would share the 2 best ebooks I have read so far.

Armed and Outrageous was naturally a free ebook I had gotten over a year ago but it is still free as of today Dec 5th 2014 on Amazon. I laughed and laughed at this one. The main character reminds me of the grandmother from the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich so if you like those than I think you would like this. At times I felt it was  bit too graphic to me but by ignoring those parts, I was able to enjoy the rest of the book. My daughter came to my bedroom to see what I was laughing so much about. If I can't find the rest of the series from my library's online books than I will buy the rest because I enjoyed it that much.

Journey to the Well- I have no idea where I got this one because it doesn't show on my Amazon account but it was on my Kindle. It is 8.99 today on Amazon but worth it. It is a fictional work about the woman at the well and the life she may have lived. I loved this book. I enjoy historical fiction and I really enjoy when I am able to picture what sort of life someone from the Bible may have lived.
