1. What is your favorite book to read with your kids?
My girls are grown now but we loved The Poky Little Puppy, One Fish Two Fish,  The Monster at the end of the Book, and Horton Hears a Who. 

2. After having kids, what body part has changed the most?
Everything. I only gained 5lbs the whole time I was pregnant either time but within six weeks of giving birth I had gained 50 lbs. I don't know what that was about. 

3. Would you ever go back to college? What would you study?
Right now I have no desire to go back but if I did I would study something impractical like archeaology. 

4. How do you close a phone call? Bye, bye bye or other?
   Bye or I'll talk to you later.

5. What is the one food that will always be your "cheat food" on a diet?
its not a food but Coke. I don't care what horror stories they tell about what all is in it, I grew up on Coke and when I feel bad nothing beats a ice cold Coke.

1. I was probably the only kid in the world who thought little people lived under the porch I used to put doll furniture and stuff out all the time for the littles.

4. Traveling isexciting but it makes me tired because we try to see everything and do everything we can think of, just in case we never get back.




1. Do you embrace or dread snow/cold weather days? Now that I am not working, I love snowy days, I hate the cold but I love snow. I don't like it if I have to be out on the roads. I can drive on snow but sadly a lot of people can't and they don't have the sense to stay home.
 
2. Which game show or reality show could you totally win? Its funny because I normally never watch game shows anymore but I was watching family feud the other night and thinking we could so totally win that one.
 
3. What is your preferred climate? warm and sunny. I have always thought San Diego sounded wonderful but there is that whole earthquake thing and its not the mountain state of WV :)

4. What do you buy every time you walk into the grocery store, no matter what? Milk, bread, dog treats, chips

5. If you see a spider/bug in the house, are you brave enough to kill it, or do you call for your hubby? well if I had a hubby you can bet I would be calling him. I squeal like a girl but I either spray it or kill it since I do still have to live here. Now if there were some critter, I would probably just have to walk out the house never to return. 






This week is weird news. I saw this just last night on facebook and thought it was pretty weird and neat. Its not actually funny but it is weird. Now I want to go out at night hunting glow in the dark fungi :)

2. What is your thought on year round school? 
I know a lot of people are in favor of it but I remember how much I loved vacation when I was in school. I can remember that thrill of the last day before summer break. I just don't think anything can compare to those solid weeks to just be a kid. I think we push children too hard these days. I don't know of anyone that had problems in school because of those breaks and I just don't think a 2 week break now and then compares. We need to get children back to being children and less like little adults. They spend too much time indoors playing video games alone.

3. What is your most embarrassing potty story? 
I think I was in my early 20's when this happened. We were at a wake and I don't know about where you are but where I am from everyone acts more like its a reunion than a memorial for the dead so they congregate and stand together. The men always gather at the back hall outside the bathrooms. I went to the bathroom and when I came out went to find my husband. This woman I didn't know came up to me and in my mind I was thinking who is she and what does she want. She whispered in my ear that my dress was caught in my hose. I was mortified :). To this day I check and double check if I am wearing a dress to make sure this never happens again :)

4. What's the temperature where you are?
25 but sunny. Its beautiful out but cold.

5. Are you a winter/spring/fall/summer person?   
Spring, I can't wait for blooms to start popping up, trees to show their flowers and to be able to plant plus all the baby animals.  

5QF- 1/4/13

Well its that time again. Another Friday and the first one of 2013. So far the year has been ok, Nothing major good or bad but thats an improvement over anything bad. Its mostly just been too cold to so much here in WV this week. Originally they said it was going to get to the 60s this weekend but now when I look at the weather forecast it shows only in the 30s and snow. I sent my application in on another state job. Hoping that it works out for me. I have to say I love love love being home all the time but I hate the no money part. Now for the question portion of today's post.

1. Have you set any goals/resolutions for 2013?
yes I always do, I don't always succeed but if you never strive for the mark you never improve is my thought process. I made a list of 12 goals for the year. 

2. Have you made any travel/vacation plans for 2013?
Not set in concrete but if I get the job I am wanting we have some ideas. We would like to buy season passes to Dollywood and got a few times this year. I would also like to go to Busch Garden Williamsburg, its my favorite vacation spot I have ever been too and we haven't been in probably 15 yrs or more.  I have been doing research and planning the most economical trips possible. Plus at least a couple trips to Wheeling WV again. We went last fall and loved the town. There is always something happening there.

3. What room is never cleaned in your house?
probably the one cleaned the least is my room but they are all cleaned normally. Clutter is my problem. 

4. What food must be in your house at all times?
tortillas, I use them to make mini pizzas or as rollups for sandwiches, veggie burritos. 

5. Are you a hugger or more of a hands off person?
I am a hugger. I am always touching. I am one of those disgusting touchy feely people.

FQF- 12/28/12

Here we are down to the last Friday in 2012. I am so excited. I am tired of this year so much. Its been so hard. My life has had a lot of personal tragedies, the state has had a lot of disasters (Dericho, Super Storm in October, lots of fires), the nation has had a lot of disasters (Shooting in Newton, Super Storm Sandy, spawn of tornadoes on Christmas day to name the recent ones). I just know God has a way better 2013 planned for us all. Anyway here is my linkup for the final 5 Question Friday of the year.

 1. If you had to give 1 million dollars to just one person (not your spouse), who would it be and why?  
Well I would say my daughter but I feel that falls in about the same category as spouse so I think I would give it to my preacher Ronnie Persinger. He would put it to use for God and do a lot of good for a lot of people. I know him and I think he would honestly do what he felt God was leading him to do. The church does quite a bit now to help people considering how small it is so I know that if he had more money he would use it wisely.  (My oldest daughter would be my first choice though if allowed, she would make sure my grandbabies were taken care of and she would do a lot of good with it also)

2. What bathroom stall do you typically go to FIRST?
Usually about the 3rd or 4th, I start checking to see if they are clean enough. Statistically most people use the closest ones so they are usually dirtier. 

 3. How do you prefer to shop: In-store or online?  
Depends on my mood and what I am buying. I don't like crowds so try to avoid the malls and superstores but I love love love a small books store. Nothing compares to holding those books in your hand. Electronics and computer stuff I prefer to buy online because I can see all the customer reviews on each item . 

4. What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?
Its been really cold and snowy the past couple of days. Not a lot of accumulation but we are supposed to get another storm this weekend. All this bad weather has made me glad I am not working right now. I hate driving on icy roads. 

5. Do you own a pair of Tom's and what do you think? Overrated, underrated or about right? don't own any. I am not into name brands and am way to frugal to buy these unless I found them on an incredible sale or someone bought them for me. I like that they do the whole donate shoe program for each pair purchased but I think a lot of people overlook or don't realize that there are quite a number of people in American who are doing without. Shoes are just shoes as far as I am concerned. I like them to be comfy and semi cute. My favorite shoes are Earth Shoes that I bought at a thrift shop.

5QF- 12/14/12

1. If you bake during the holidays, what is your favorite thing to make?
My oldest and I have a day where we spend the day making all sorts of different candies. I love it because we get to be together sharing memories,  and we get to bless our neighbors with a gift. This year we made peanut butter fudge, chocolate fudge, dreamsicle fudge, mint patties, oreo balls, butterscotch no bake cookies.

2. Present giving: Gift bag vs wrapped box?
If I am doing it its probably going in a bag and not having the fancy tissue paper. I am challenged when it comes to wrapping. I have my oldest do all my wrapping. She makes it look like Martha Stewart wrapped it with fancy bows and stuff. If I am forced to wrap instead of using a bag it looks like a 3 yr old wrapped it with rounded corners and gobs of tape. Not a pretty picture.

3. What do you keep your thermostat on during the winter/summer in your house?
I like to be warmer so in the winter its pretty warm here but I don't keep it cool during the summer. Probably around 75-78.

4. When thinking of your "Christmas to-do list" what percentage "done" are you? about 55%. My oldest helps with wrapping, cards and candy making. I do all the Christmas dinner, buying and choosing gifts.

5. Do you do the "Elf on a Shelf"? If so, is your Elf naughty and what shenanigans has he gotten into? 
We just haven't ever got into elf on a shelf but I have seen some funny postings. My girls were grown by the time the elf on a shelf came around so we never picked it up as a habit.

5 Question Friday- July 20th 2012

1} What do you call them- flip flops, sandals, thongs, or slippers?

I call them flop flops because my oldest granddaughter when she was a toddler always called them that. My daughter gets so mad but I don't care, it makes me remember my babies.

2} Are you a "my kids can do no wrong" kind of mom or a "Johnny punched you? Well what did you do to him first?!" kind of mom?

I am always on my child's side but I also look for the truth and try to resolve the issue. But I can be a real bear about my children and their lives.

3} Would you confront a good friend that looked/looks down on your husband/significant other?

Yes and if it kept on it would probably end our friendship.

4} Biggest pet peeve?

I hate when people use incorrect wording, such as loose when they mean lose or pacific when they mean specific.

5} What's your favorite take out meal?

Papa John's ham and cheese pizza.
