Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 75

Everyday Ruralty

I spent most of yesterday in bed so didn't get my chat done. I had a real bad headache all day and no pain meds were working. I am hoping it was just a headache and nothing else since the flu is going around but I still feel crappy today and my tummy hurts so I am thinking its some form of bug :( Oh well onto the chat.

1. What's your favorite thing to have in hot cocoa/ hot chocolate?
I love hot chocolate in about any form so I really don't have a favorite. I like it with marshmallows, cinnamon, creamer or just plain. My grandbabies love homemade hot chocolate best.

2. Did you have a white Christmas? Have you had snow since then?

We had snow on the ground for a snow a couple days before and it has sprinkled snow a couple times since than but nothing on the ground now. Its actually 50 degrees and raining today. I am glad. I love to see the snow on the trees and grounds plus as its falling but I hate being cold. I have enjoyed the snow more this year than any other year in a long time, mostly because I am not working so when its pouring snow and the roads are slick I don't have to drive on it.

3.Have you been looking over seed catalogs? If this doesn't apply, what kind of catalogs do you like to leaf through?
Not yet but I have ordered a couple already so I can start looking. I am so looking forward to spring. This will be my first spring in this trailer and I want to do some landscaping plus I would like to plant a little garden. All my life I have had dreams of owning a farm and living off the land and planting a little garden and canning from it makes me feel more in line with my dreams.

4. Gas stove or electric?
Right now I actually have no stove. We took out the old gas stove and I was going to convert to electric since the stove is the only thing gas in the house but after the first power outage and no way to cook nor any heat I decided to put in another gas stove. I actually prefer to cook with gas anyway and in an emergency we can still cook and use the oven for heat if need be.

5. What's new or interesting?
Not much since I still have no car or job so I don't hardly leave the house. But I did have a wonderful weekend, a former coworker took me to lunch at Bob Evans. We laughed and talked. It is so great to connect with old friends. Thankfully I have always had great coworkers for the most part and am still friends with them. probably 25% of my facebook friends are former coworkers or bosses.

I hope you feel better soon. Good thing you can stay home and stay dry (you said it was raining). I'm sure you can start a garden this year. That will be part of the way to your dream. There is no better feeling than growing your own food. Have a good week.
