new year's eve

Mandi and I went to visit our aunt in Greenboro today. I hate driving in that town. Everyone drives like a lunatic. I stopped by office depot and picked up a free 10 pack of diskettes that I had gotten an email coupon for. I signed up for some freebies today. I remember back when I got thousands of dollars worth of stuff online for just a couple hundred dollars. Once I get another job and have cablemodem again, I am going to spend some more time finding good deals but it sucks when your on dialup. I will probably start my freebies and good deals newsletter back up for friends and family. I am seriously going to work on saving more money in the new year.
My cousin sent me a link for gmail from google. You can't just sign up on your own but they give you a gig of mail space and offer free forwarding and pop mail so I really wanted an account. We took back the pants and shirt I got Mandi for christmas and found a really cute outfit for her. I guess I will be asleep when the new year starts since I have to be at work at 4:30 in the morning. I was reading about the new year but of course this article refers to the chinese new year which won't start for a few more weeks. But it was still interesting to read and get ready for.
May the Goddess bless you in the new year and bring nothing but joy and love into your life.

Payday

Today was payday. It was depressing though. I got paid and after paying rent and taxes and tags on my car, I only have $100. left for groceries, gas and kerosene for 2 weeks. But on the plus side my supervisor did approve my getting a second job, so maybe within 3 weeks I will have money. I have to wait until the next schedule is made before I can apply.
Mandi's friend, Ashley is here tonight with her cousin from Rhode Island. They are hilarious. They are sort of like abbott and costello, they are both talking but neither is understanding each other. I have laughed until tears came from my eyes.
Most of the time I really like living in Andy Griffin country but some days its like a stupid fest here. I have to pay taxes on my car for last year for the entire year even though I got the car legal on December 27th. So I have to pay for a year even though I only had the car for 3 days in the year. Nothing is prorated here. And they hadn't sent me a notice about my tags because I hadn't paid the taxes yet. Most ppl would have sent a reminder of them running out.

Wonderful day

Today was an absolutely perfect day in Surry county. It was almost 60 degrees and sunny. I had the day off from work and spent part of it doing nothing at all. I did have to go to the grocery store and then to the dump to get rid of a lot of junk. I am trying to declutter and get everything ready for the new year. I would like to arrange everything and apply more feng shui principles to my life. I have done it before and I really believe it made life better. Of course, I didn't keep it up. It looks like if something worked you would go with it but thats not how it works with me normally.
I didn't get a lot at the store because tomorrow is payday. I think I will shop at Save-a-lot more in the next year. I get a lot more for my money. I spent almost $10 and managed to get 2 frozen pizzas, cottage cheese, cream cheese, a block of colby, some tomatoes, and some toilet paper. I went for a walk around the yard with a couple of my cats. Patchwork was so funny, she would sneak and follow me and Isis. I repotted my jade plant and put all the plants on the back deck to get a bit of sun and warmth for a couple of hours.
I did get sort of down though when the sun passed. It just seems like life is nothing but work. The house always needs cleaning and I am always headed out the door to work. It is a very rare occasion that my 2 days off are in a row so I always have to spend both of them doing errands and cleaning house. I know thats how most peoples life goes but some days its just so hard to keep going. I can't even remember the last time I did anything that resembled a fun time. Its going to get worse before it gets better though. I am going to have to get another job because winter bills are stretching my money farther than it actually goes. So now I will have even less free time but hopefully more money. I have to clear it with my manager tomorrow though.

Getting Started

I thought I would start the new year with a new blog about my life. I wouldn't ever dream that my life was interesting enough for others but this is going to be like a journal of my life for the next year at least. I intend for 2005 to be the best year ever for me, now I just have to figure out how to make it a reality. Basically I am a 36 year old, overweight, poor divorced mom working a dead end job with no dating prospects so hopefully this is no where to go but up from this point.
